Your vehicle is a major investment with expensive parts, pieces and costly maintenance. However, one small and inexpensive piece of your car is often gets overlooked – even though it’s very important!
Your vehicle’s windshield wipers are tasked with keeping your windshield free of rain, snow, frost and other debris that can block your clear vision of the road. Being unable to properly see the road when traveling at high speeds can be extremely dangerous, and your windshield wipers are the first line of defense in keeping your view clear. However, because your wipers must protect against the elements at all times, they often can get worn down and dysfunctional.
Here are a few signs that it may be time to replace your windshield wipers:
- A rubbing or squeaking noise coming from your windshield wipers when operating
- The windshield wiper is not running smoothly over the surface of the windshield or skipping
- The windshield is leaving behind streaks or droplets of water
- Any form of reduced visibility while attempting to drive
If you aren’t positive if you have a malfunctioning wiper and want to get a closer look, you can always pull your vehicle over and check to see if any part of the windshield wiper is detached from the frame, there are any tears or cracks in the wiper or if there are any areas with corrosion of the rubber. If you see any of these signs – it’s time to get new wiper blades!
